  • What do you think is going to happen next?
  • Who is the most interesting character?  Why?
  • What will happen to the characters after the story ends?
  • What did you learn from one of the characters?
  • Who does the main character remind you of? Why?
  • Are the characters believable?  Why or why not?
  • If you could be a character in the book who would you be? Why?
  • What is the setting of this book?
  • What words did the author use to describe the place?
  • Describe an image the author created in your mind?  How did the  author create it?
  • Do you think the story could have really happened?  Why or why not?
  • How does the story make you feel?
  • What did you wonder as you were reading?
  • What are the most important events in the story?  Why?
  • What does the book remind you of (connections: text-text, text-world, text-self)? How does this help you understand the book?
